Fitness Center
Effective June 15th, 2021, personal trainers are no longer permitted to conduct business inside the fitness center. Violations should be reported immediately to Management. Fitness Center Reservations No Longer Required Starting Wednesday, February 16, 2022
In alignment with the State of California, Alameda County will lift universal mask requirements for most indoor public settings beginning Wednesday, February 16.
Therefore, the fitness center will reopen at full capacity and the reservation requirement will be removed. Reservations made on or after the 16th will be canceled. The Association continues to follow applicable health department directives, following the State of California's recommendation to allow the 'honor system' as COVID-19 vaccine proof.
- Fully vaccinated people who do not have COVID-19 symptoms may enter the fitness center unmasked.
- People who are NOT fully vaccinated are still required to wear masks at all times.
Self-enforcement of these policies is imperative to fitness center operations.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE NEW GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN RE-CLOSURE OF THE FITNESS CENTER AT ANY TIME.
Use of the fitness center is at your own risk. Although our custodian staff comes twice a week to clean and disinfect the fitness center, equipment, refill disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer, we recommend residents to bring their own disinfectant wipes to clean the equipment before and after each use.
Monte Vista Villas HOA will adhere to county guidelines and regulations. Therefore, terms of use of the fitness center are subject to change without notice.
- Read the Covid-19 Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risks (below).
- Use the provided disinfectant wipes to wipe down equipment before and after use. We recommend residents bring their own wipes in the event the dispenser needs refilling
- No food our drinks allowed. Personal water bottles will be permitted
- Turn off the AC and lights
- Close all widows and doors
- Wipe down and put equipment away
COVID-19 Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risks
I understand and acknowledge that COVID-19 is a global pandemic for which the President of the United States and the Governor of California have declared emergencies. COVID-19 is reported to be extremely contagious. The state of medical knowledge is evolving, but the virus is believed to spread from person to-person contact and/or by contact with contaminated surfaces and objects, and even in the air. People reportedly can be infected and show no symptoms and therefore spread the disease. Evidence has shown that COVID-19 can cause serious and potentially life-threatening illness and even death. I further understand and acknowledge that COVID-19 is a public health risk, and Monte Vista Villas of Oakland cannot prevent me from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while using the Community Fitness Center. With full appreciation of these facts, and in consideration for my participation, I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation, including but not limited to, the risk of illness, death, bodily injury, disability, or exposure or infection with COVID-19. Participation is of such value to me that I accept the risk of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading COVID-19 in order to participate. With full understanding of the aforementioned risks, I knowingly and voluntarily waive Monte Vista Villas of Oakland from all present and future claims of any type for any harm or loss, including but not limited to, economic loss, personal injury, disease, death, or property damage suffered by me during my participation in this Program. I agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and covenant not to sue Monte Vista Villas of Oakland for any personal injury, death, medical expenses, disability, loss of capacity, property damage, court costs, attorney’s fees, or other loss arising out of my participation in this Program. I understand that my participation is voluntary and that I will at all times follow all safety requirements, policies, and guidelines of Monte Vista Villas of Oakland required for participation. Failure to comply may result in denial of access to or removal from the fitness center.
